I
am quite curious to know how many films I see in a year, so I am going to
list here what I've watched. I might include TV series, and may comment or
rate them if I feel like it...

La
question humaine (Nicolas Klotz)
Ningen
gokaku (Kiyoshi Kurosawa)
Not his best, but nice. 7/10
Vanishing
point (Richard C. Sarafian)
Not only cult, but also pretty good. 7/10
Death
proof (Quentin Tarantino)
La frime pour la frime. I love it. 9/10
The
office (Ricky Gervais / Stephen Merchant)
8/10
Lady
Chatterley (Pascale Ferran)
Excellent. 8/10
Mei
man ren sheng (Colin Goh / Yen Yen Woo)
6/10
Old
joy (Kelly Reichardt)
The kind of american indie-films I like. 8/10
Sakebi
(Kiyoshi Kurosawa)
À un moment j'ai eu la chair de poule! Très très beau.
8/10
Das
Leben der Anderen (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck)
Nice, although not the announced masterpiece. 7/10
15:
the movie (Royston Tan)
Ça arrache... 7/10
Moloch
(Aleksandr Sokurov)
7/10
Milyang
(Chang-dong Lee)
8/10
Waking
life (Richard Linklater)
Mixed feelings about this one, but for sure I had never seen anything like
it before.
Rocky
Balboa (Sylvester Stallone)
I don't want to go too hard on that one. Some good intentions, but not a good
film. 3/10
The
departed (Martin Scorsese)
I thought the original was alright. This one is slightly better, especially
with the dry and cold end, very much appreciated. 8/10
Halloween
(John Carpenter)
Some great stuff in there. 8/10
Catch
me if you can (Steven Spielberg)
Live
free or die hard (Len Wiseman)
Watchable. Especially when you are bored on a red-eye flight. 5/10
Se,
jie (Ang Lee)
Sorry Ang, despite certain qualities, there are too many things I don't like
in your film. 4/10. But it makes me think of how impressed I was by the cinematography
in "Zi
hudie", similar in many ways, but Ye Lou seems to be a much greater
film maker. So thank you for indirectly reminding me to follow his work.
Mor
suit nam (Adam Wong)
The
kingdom (Peter Berg)
0/10. Even -100.000/10
I deeply hate this piece of crap. The first 5 or 10 minutes are good, the
rest makes me sick. Beurk.
Wu
Qingyuan (Tian Zhuangzhuang)
All I know is I wanted to stay awake, and with this one I had quite a hard
time...
La
captive (Chantal Akerman)
I try and watch her films, but I am not an Akerman fan. However, this was
the second viewing, and as I am meanwhile much more familiar with Marcel P.'s
litterature masterpiece, I really was into it this time. 7/10
Slacker
(Richard Linklater)
A
scanner darkly (Richard Linklater)
Not as surprised as the first time with "waking life". It is nice.
7/10. However, I should now stop viewing Linklater's work for some time.
Un
amour de Swann (Volker Schlöndorff)
I should also stop watching Proust's adaptations! Volker completely mixed
stories and situations... His film is completely pointless. À la poubelle!
1/10
Hua
jai tor ra nong (Apichatpong Weerasethakul)
I say yes, you say no but you will change your mind! 8/10. Apichatpong is
probably my fave film maker these days. This one isn't typical of his work,
and it's completely crazy, but it's great!
Mary
(Abel Ferrara)
Inland
empire (David Lynch)
Quel film!! 10/10
Heima
(Dean DeBlois)
Love'em.
I am just wondering what they mean by "unannounced concerts", when
you see the audience sometimes... Also some shots are a bit too much, and
make you think of Pink Floyd at Pompeii, but it's fun.
Ukigumo
(Mikio Naruse)
Clearly, I am going to watch lots of Naruse very soon. Odd stuff: I had an
english subtitle file which obviously was computer translated from spanish
(I can prove it). Hard to say whether it disturbed a lot my appreciation of
the film, but that was bloody weird...
Los
lunes al sol (Fernando León de Aranoa)
It makes you think of a spanish Ken Loach. It's got weaknesses, but it's overall
quite ok.
Die
fetten Jahre sind vorbei (Hans Weingartner)
Du bon et du pourri là-dedans.
Amando
a Maradona (Javier Vázquez)
Rather bad documentary about Diego. 3/10
Eastern
promises (David Cronenberg)
I liked it, but his last masterpiece remains Spider.
Little
Odessa (James Gray)
Noir. Et bon.
Saibogujiman
kwenchana (Chan-wook Park)
Steak
(Quentin Dupieux)
Chivers!! Un film ovni, forcément précieux.
I
am legend (Francis Lawrence)
C'est plutôt pas mal, ce truc.
Cops
(Buster Keaton)
It still works!
Rocco
e i suoi fratelli (Luchino Visconti)
Visconti est grand. He even spices up the film with two minutes of Claudia
Cardinale on screen. How nice of him!
Nagareru
(Mikio Naruse)
Le Mikio ne rigolait pas. Mais c'est la classe. And Mariko Okada...
Vérités
et mensonges (Orson Welles)
Genius.
A
countess from Hong Kong (Charles Chaplin)
Lost,
stock and two smoking barrels (Guy Ritchie)
chose!
Na
srebrnym globie (Andrzej Zulawski)
Control
(Anton Corbijn)
It's OK, sometimes even brilliant, although partly superficial.
The
immortal story (Orson Welles)
9/10
Bug
(William Friedkin)
Complètement génial. 9/10
Seung sing
(Wai-keung Lau / Siu Fai Mak)
Pas terrible. Nice to see Hong Kong, though.
Ivan
Groznyy 1 (Sergei M. Eisenstein)
Stalin liked it. I liked it.
Ivan
Groznyy 2: Boyarsky zagovor (Sergei M. Eisenstein)
Stalin didn't like it. I liked it.
Hotel
Chevalier (Wes Anderson)
Un petit amuse-gueule avant la suite...
The
Darjeeling Limited (Wes Anderson)
I love that guy...
Our
hospitality (John G. Blystone / Buster Keaton)
Nicht schlecht der Film.
The
lady from Shanghai (Orson Welles)
He tells stories like no one else.
Ni tsutsumarete
(Naomi Kawase)
I loved Shara so much I've got to watch more of her. This one won't be the
last.
Falscher bekenner
(Christoph Hochhäusler)
I prefer Milchwald, but this is not bad either. Avec en prime une ellipse
qui soulage un peu!
Fear
and loathing in Las Vegas (Terry Gilliam)
Hallucinant en effet. Du beau travail!
Dark
star (John Carpenter)
discute philosophie...
Safety
last! (Fred C. Newmeyer / Sam Taylor)
The
yards (James Gray)
Excellent. And now I am ready for his new film, released tomorrow.
Cloverfield
(Matt Reeves)
It's good entertainment. The monster is slighly too big, but it does not matter
very much.
Ching
se (Tsui Hark)
Tout simplement magnifique.
We
own the night (James Gray)
Klassenfahrt
(Henner Winckler)
This is a lovely little film, fine and subtle.
Die
innere Sicherheit (Christian Petzold)
Bon film!
Sommer
vorm Balkon (Andreas Dresen)
Yella
(Christian Petzold)
Il est bon aussi le Christian... J'aime le mélande de réalisme
et d'irréel.
Tsuioku
no dansu (Naomi Kawase)
Naomi doesn't know how to handle it, but she does it well.
Gespenster
(Christian Petzold)
It is great, and Julia Hummer telling her dream is simply fantastic. I will
never forget it.
No
country for old men (Ethan Cohen / Joel Cohen)
Tout à fait excellent.
Redacted
(Brian De Palma)
Another masterpiece by Mister De Palma. This man is my hero.
The
bonfire of the vanities (Brian De Palma)
Something is missing, but I am not sure what it is.
Orae-doen
jeongwon (Im Sang-soo)
9/10. As it seems, being called 'Sang-soo' is a great asset to become an excellent
director!
Zodiac
(David Fincher)
Good film.
Full
metal village (Sung Hyung Cho)
Génial!
La sindrome di
Stendhal (Dario Argento)
Denk
ich an Deutschland - Herr Wichmann von der CDU (Andreas Dresen)
Impeccable!
From
hell (Albert Hugues / Allen Hugues)
Saw it only because I had just read the graphic novel. Typical screenplay
trick of wrapping several characters into one to save time, etc. Well, it's
not a great film, but it could have been worse. 5/10 or so.
Tenkû
no shiro Rapyuta (Hayao Miyazaki)
J'adore. 9/10
Fahrenheit
9/11 (Michael Moore)
Catch-22
(Mike Nichols)
It is possibly a great film, it seems experimental and witty, but I wasn't
into it this time.
Torrente
Planet
of the apes (Tim Burton)
C'est vraiment très mauvais.
El
bien sympathique. 7/10
Moe
no suzaku (Naomi Kawase)
Très très grand film. Allez je lui mets un 10/10.
Pâku
ando rabuhoteru (Izuru Kumasaka)
Sans grande ampleur, mais sympathique.
Mogari
no mori (Naomi Kawase)
This is not her best, but it is marvelous. Which says it all about how great
Naomi is. She will be a giant.
Byôsoku
5 senchimêtoru (Makoto Shinkai)
One of the most beautiful things you can see on a screen.
7
vidas - 1a temporada
It's ok to watch this while eating, to practice your spanish. And it's quite
fun to recognise some of these actors in Almodovar films, like Blanca Portillo
and my favorite, Javier Cámara.
Montag
kommen die Fenster (Ulrich Köhler)
I remember Rocheteau playing for Pialat, now it's Nastase playing for Köhler.
Excellent film, by the way.
Szamanka
(Andrzej Zulawski)
C'est n'importe quoi. Confus.
Hoshi
no koe (Makoto Shinkai)
This is very similar to byôsoku 5 senchimêtoru in many ways. Great.
South
Park - season 1 (Trey Parker)
I've read they've put everything online, so I'm watching it. It's good.
Yama
no oto (Mikio Naruse)
Ouh là... alors là, chef d'œuvre, tout simplement!
By the way, it is quite satisfying to see this kind of film has got such high
ratings at imdb.com. I suppose you do not watch this by accident, so those
who did were likely to like it. But anyway, 185 voters and we get a 8.5. Significantly
higher than, let's say, Star wars Episode I, that gets a 6.4 with... 148,930
voters!! Stop wasting your time and go watch good movies, you idiots!
Willenbrock
(Andreas Dresen)
Pas mal du tout.
Tarachime
(Naomi Kawase)
How can someone do this?? Only Naomi...
On
the air (David Lynch)
It's quite obvious why it wasn't much on the air... My favorites are the pilot
and episode 5.
The
short films of David Lynch (David Lynch)
That's pretty cool. So you get 'six men getting sick', 'the alphabet', 'the
grandmother' (excellent!), 'the amputee', 'the cowboy and the frenchman',
'premonition following an evil deed', plus commentary by the man himself.
Paranoid
park (Gus Van Sant)
That's a very impressive work, especially on the narrative and the sound.
We also hear great Elliott Smith' songs, that Gus already used for his Good
Will Hunting. Witty.
Three
days of the condor (Sydney Pollack)
Well... I guess it's OK, but that love thing is so f-ing ridiculous, I just
can't stand this kind of crap.
South
Park - season 2 (Trey Parker)
I'm still watching it... It's still good!
